SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH

Ross’ sister, Beth, made the airport run with us yesterday afternoon. We arrived in Atlantic City after midnight and by the time we rented the car and drove to our boat in Cape May, it was after 1 a.m. Hopped up on caffeine and the travel jitters, it was well after that before we could fall asleep.

We awoke to a sunny, fall day. Hurricane Earl had been a threat while we were back in Minnesota. Our Looper friend Richard Nick came over and buttoned up the Oddysea as best he could in the event Earl hit. He had done a wonderful job of securing what he could with zip ties and rope. Even the zipper pulls were zip tied together. Earl never did arrive here, but the days that followed brought very high winds. So the zip ties certainly didn’t go to waste.

A boat at the marina at low tide. Glad we aren't in this slip!

We decided to wait until tomorrow to clean the boat as it is suppose be rainy. Some seagulls (known by boaters as flying rats!) had set up shop on the top of our boat while we were away. Don’t worry, no photos. Our hope is the rain will make the poo easier to clean off. What ever is in that stuff is very caustic and etches the fiberglass and stains the canvas.

Since we put off the cleaning, we rode our bikes to Wildwood. Upon arriving we discovered it was the 15th annual Roar to the Shore Bikers week. Ok, I’m not complaining but we’ve done the biker thing already. Couldn’t we run in to a music festival, food festival, wine festival, some other kind of festival???

Not sure how much "roar" comes out of this one.

Kinda cute though.

There was a really fun band to listen to.

But it is always fun people watching, I've got to give it that. There wasn’t a parade and it wasn’t anything compared to the Daytona Biker Week though.

This could be a biker chick, or it could just be a Jersey Girl. I'll let you make the call.

Wandering around this crowd it’s pretty obvious I don’t fit in. But I feel completely safe and at ease. I know that underneath the black leather, chains, skull caps and tattoos these folks are red, white and blue!
