We left in the morning with GULLWING in the lead and RUNNING ERINS behind us. It’s a hazy day and it gives the scenery a feel I can only describe as Alaskan. Most of my photos from today didn’t turn out very clear because of this.
This is some of the most picturesque area we have traveled so far up in Canada. I wish this photo had shown it clearer. This is GULLWING navigating the Seven Mile Narrows.

The weather forecast was for strong afternoon storms so we all ended up heading to a marina in Parry Sound. Big surprise, they were wrong and the storms never developed. Won’t be the last time.
Ross and I went exploring the town of Parry Sound. It is the home of world famous hockey player Bobby Orr, considered to be one of the greatest players of all time. He was one of those players who never wore a helmet. Vanity maybe? Those were the days of guys with big hair. He played for the Boston Bruins 10 out of his 12 years in the NHL.
Walking back to the marina we passed several of these bear relocation traps. If a bear is causing a problem they can drive the trap to the area, crank up the wheels, lift up the trap door and put the bait in. Once they catch the bear they crank down the wheels and take him for a road trip to his new home. Haven’t seen any bear up here so far. But we are warned to keep a look out for them if you go to shore on the islands exploring.
Many folks up here have floatplanes to get around. There is a service located in Parry Sound that will fly you around. For instance, you can fly to Henry’s for lunch and back (I’m guessing about a 20 minute ride) for about $170 a piece. But hey, it includes a fish dinner.
